Hi Dan, just a note to thank you for the help you gave during my engagement ring making decisions. It was great to talk to someone who has true passion for his product and with a depth of knowledge of jewellery that you have. Not just in the design but also the manufacture, types of materials that can be used, diamond settings, colours, sizing, etc. and also the understanding of the significance of the ring, there was nothing you missed out. My suggestions made you realise that I wanted something unique, not a production-run ring, and that was important to me. As we discussed the design of the ring, visiting many re-inventions along the way, I realised that you take on board the customers requirements and you do not push your thoughts into the design. If the designs were possible but flawed in some way, you talked to me about it, not only regarding the flaw but also the reason why it was not maybe a good idea to use that design in that ring.
One of my thoughts you discussed with your ring manufacturer and came back to me with a reason not to do it, not because of the cost or the difficulty in manufacture but because the design the ring would not look correct and you would see more of the multiple joins than the ring itself. Im sure you could have just said Yes we can do that and I would have ended up with a ring I would have been disappointed with. It seemed to me that your only goal in the process was to have a happy customer when the ring is complete.
You never rushed me into making a decision. The cost was always up-front - nothing was hidden from the process. The final ring came in on my budget and looks, in my opinion, spectacular.
Even the presentation of the ring in the ring-box you have given a new-look. Instead of getting a box that the ring is pushed into and you can only see the head of the ring, the ring is clipped into the box and you can see the whole ring.
I can honestly say it has been a very pleasurable experience doing business with you and I am very happy with the end result - and so is my (now) fiance. She cannot stop showing the ring to friends and work colleagues with the tale of how unique the ring is, how flawless the diamond is, how it was designed, etc, etc. It has got very positive remarks and made a lot of people think twice about the purchasing of a production ring.
I can only hope that this word of mouth advertising brings you more success in the future and I wish you every success with your business.

We had an antique design in mind and using two family diamonds, we then purchased a 1.00ct cushion cut diamond and incorported these into our unique design. We were able to check the proportion of the ring using the CAD modeling and 3D graphics and once the design was perfect the blueprint was produced in Platinum. The finished result was identical to the CAD that we previewed and very very sparkly. When my partner and I got engaged we decided to have an engagement ring made and had spotted a beautiful ring on a friend who advised me she had it made through Polished Diamonds. We went online and found the website which was very detailed but easy to use and found a ring we wanted to model ours on. We then contacted Dan who helped guide us through the process which he made very easy. We wanted a small change to the ring we had found online and Dan had the CAD design through to us in a few days. He had also taken his time to find us 3 perfectly matched diamonds and was more than happy to advise on the different options we could use for the setting and band. As a medical doctor, I am used to noticing fine details, and when I started looking for rings at retail jewellery stores, I soon realised the diamonds didn't hold up to close scrutiny. I was clueless and worried when I started looking for an Engagement ring to propose with. Luckily, I stumbled onto a piece of old news article about Polished Diamonds. I played around with their website to start with, the procedure outlined on the website was already pretty clear but I thought I would still give them a call to check how he sounded. I was greeted with a friendly male voice (believe me, it was easier talking to a guy), he explained every single detail from the 4 Cs to how to clean you diamond ring whilst explaining the processes related to purchasing a ring; needless to say I was extremely impressed. Meeting someone I felt I could spend the rest of my life with took a long search, and when it came to proposing, there was no way a trip to the local jewellery store was going to cut it. From here, via a few tweaks made over the phone, a really beautiful ring was crafted. The entire process, from choosing metal and a stone (complete with detailed gem reports I could peruse at my leisure) was made so simple, and the freedom of being able to direct the work via phone and email, without the hassle of cross-town trips during work hours, took all the drama and the stress out of the process. The team made the entire experience simple and enjoyable. Their relaxed, straight-up style, devoid of unnecessary pomp or formality, made dealing with them a real pleasure. There is no doubt - buying an engagement ring is one of the most important decisions any man will ever make. Like most of us it would seem, I spent quite some time looking through rings in high street shops and learning exactly what constituted a quality stone. To be fair, I was horrified by some of the pricing out there and have always had an attitude that if you can bypass the middle man who adds questionable value, then you most certainly should. With that in mind and armed with some education, I searched the internet looking for a reputable online dealer. As many before me have mentioned in their testimonials, this is a harrowing process. The amount of money most of us are spending means that this is a nervous experience and one that you undertake with a significant amount of trepidation. Let me say, at the age of 38 years old and with 20+ years behind me in service orientated backgrounds, if you can find a more accommodating, trustworthy and abjectly honourable person to deal with than Dan at Polished Diamonds, then you will have done extremely well. Personally I couldn't have been more impressed. A database of over 33,000 GIA diamonds structured in a simple search engine that means you decide colour, cut, clarity, size, polish etc You get consulted and reassured at every step along the way, and the result was outstanding. Honestly, I'm doing Dan a disservice calling the result outstanding but adjectives aren't my strong point. Suffice to say the girl was over the moon and as any male in a relationship will tell you happy wife = happy life! We chose a .90 carat solitaire with VS1 clarity, with excellent polish, symmetry and cut. The landed price from Dan including 18ct white gold ring designed to her preferences was a bargain and the quality workmanship was stunning. The same stone and ring in the aforementioned shops would have to have been ordered in and would have cost me twice as much without the quality enough said. As a medical doctor, I am used to noticing fine details, and when I started looking for rings at retail jewellery stores, I soon realised the diamonds didn't hold up to close scrutiny. Well, being a farm lad in Golden Bay possibly makes me one of the most dumbest diamond ring buyers in the world...My partner and I had been talking about marriage, etc for some time and had stopped and looked at a few jewellery shops while on holiday or in Nelson while shopping, and as with any woman, there was no one set piece of jewellery to choose. We had been told about Polished Diamonds from friends who had a really good experience. Dan provided some ideas from a few instructions from Kate, then I left it long enough for Kate to forget before contacting Dan again. I chose the ring style closest to what Kate had seen elsewhere to her fancy. Nervous as hell I asked Dan to go ahead with the job. I mean I didn't even know ring sizes went from A thru to Z alphabetically, I thought Kates size M was for Medium!! Dan was great thou, explained everything, from sizing, choice in metal, the way the rings are constructed or any other curve ball question I could throw at him. Dan was patient as I tried to find a way of hiding a reasonable size purchase without Kate seeing it. The end job is magnificent, Kate absolutely loves the ring! The GIA certificate, invoice, two copies of the valuation, (and what value the purchase is when you compare!) this making insuring the ring so simple, plus a bit of sensible business promotion, referral vouchers for friends which we have already passed on happily to others, and of course, the perfectly presented diamond ring in its own presentation box. Like most people I was apprehensive about giving thousands of dollars to someone I had never met. Our jeweller quoted us a few diamonds and I thought I would do my own research to see if I could find comparable diamonds and price. While looking for a diamond we were quoted a lesser colour and clarity diamond for over 800 dollars more than the diamond Polished Diamonds supplied. Not to mention the excellent grades for cut and polish which are hard to come by. As far as web sites go I was confident when Dan contacted me within ten minutes of submitting a query about several diamonds. I was able to discuss what I was looking for and diamond characteristics. Dan also followed our discussion with an email of 6-8 diamonds meeting my requirements along with GIA reports. In my opinion if it doesn't come with GIA grading don't but it. Countless retail stores will claim a diamonds colour and clarity but wont or can't provide a GIA report. Using Dan's experience I picked out a true sparkler- both on paper but more importantly in real life. I received the diamond by registered courier and believe me it is fantastic in the light!! Ness is going to be over the moon. Her friends are going to be jealous. I would recommend Dan and Polished diamonds to anyone looking for great service and Quality diamonds at bloody good prices. I received excellent service throughout my dealings with Polished Diamonds. Dan was always kind and helpful, he was never late in replying to my emails. On the delivery day which was a Saturday, there was a bit of hiccup the courier guy couldn't find my apartment. My ring was taken back to the depot and depot was meant to close at 12. I rang Dan and he went out of his way to actually talk to the lady at the courier depot to make her stay for extra half hour. I got at the depot at 12:20 and got my ring!!!!!
